Canada has a rich musical history.  Canadians have been making their presence known on the national and international stage for 60 years. 

Canada's first teen idol was Paul Anka (in 1958 Paul's song Diana reached number one in Canada and the US and has become one of the best selling 45s in music history)  more recently it's Justin Bieber and Sean Mendes.

Hank Snow and Paul Anka emerged in the 1950s. -  Buffy St. Marie, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Steppenwolf in the 1960s - Rush, The Guess Who, Anne Murray in the 1970s - Parachute Club, Tom Cochrane, Kim Mitchell, Bryan Adams in the 1980s - Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Sarah McLachlan, Blue Rodeo, Tragically Hip, k.d. lang, in the 1990s.
